Description
BPD capitalizes on the elegance and practicality of the centuries-old paper lantern by giving it a place at the table with all the beauty of its ceiling-hanging kin. A balance of traditional craftsmanship and modern industrial design, Lamp Uno resonates with paper, plaster, and a touch of glass.
The spherical form of the shade and the flat surface the lamp rests on coalesce around a handmade teardrop-shaped base. Reflected light across the base further harmonizes the piece by casting a form shadow, which mirrors the gradual transition from light to dark found in nature. This phenomenon was beautifully interpreted by one of Ben’s inspirations, the Group of Seven, a band of Canadian landscape painters from the 1920s. (See Ben’s Lamp Uno reel @benpiercedesigns inspired by form shadows, Parisian cafes, Noguchi and the Group of Seven.)
Where proportions are everything, Lamp Uno isnāt just a sensual source of light but also a captivating piece of modernist design. Ask about color options to compliment your style and interior space. Dyed paper shades, pigment infused plaster, and colored glass may be customized to create your perfect match.
